Words for Wednesday

7:30am

Ok, it’s been, what, a week?

I got out of the house last night to get groceries at Walmart. I had great time in the produce section.

First, who knew so many fresh-looking blueberries could carry so much mold? I think I picked up 5 containers before I found one that didn’t have any. And even then I kept turning it over just to be sure. I made sure to flip all of the others so the white fuzz was showing. I’m pretty certain, though, that they were probably returned to their previous state- mold side down- eventually.  Walmart’s produce isn’t very great. However, have you seen those mini bananas? I eat a banana everyday, so I got a bundle (one time purchase at 8.2 cents per OUNCE) to try in my oatmeal today. Andy also loves bananas, so I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of the littleness of them.

Have you ever wandered through Walmart and heard a conversation between a couple of people? Last night I overheard a man talking with an employee in the meat area. He didn’t like “all of the properganda.” Yeah, me neither. But.. now I’m going out on a limb here, it is better than improperganda.

Have you even been followed in Walmart? Or maybe you just feel like you’re being followed. From aisle 13 to 11 and then back to 12. Maybe throw them off and go to electronics. If they follow… maybe you know them and your contacts are getting too old because they’ve been in your eyes too long and you can’t really see who it was. Ok, it didn’t happen to me, but it could. My contacts need changed. I look at people far too long to see if I know them, which probably makes them think I’m staring at them. Ok, that was totally random. Man, I sound like a teen.

Well, the weight has been coming off slowly.. but coming off. I’m down 9 pounds since the 26th of December.

I did make blondies last night, and had some. Very good. I should have sent them to work with Joe this morning, though. Also made white chocolate dipped strawberries! I got the Dole ones, the other brand looked like they were plastic, with huge craters around the seeds like they were blown up and the seeds would pop out any second. Just unnatural looking.

I also had in mind to make chocolate dipped strawberries, too! I got unsweetened chocolate. Oh my word. My husband tasted it melted and I tried it, and wow. Never again. It should be a crime to sell ashes in chocolate form. My step daughter asked what it tasted like and I told her “ash!” and then I tried to backtrack because it sounded like I was saying another word, and just playing it up. So, I said “ashes”.. ok, not much better, but it was dry and tasteless and totally gross!! I should have gone with milk chocolate. I’m not a chocolate lover at all. I can stand milk sometimes, but other than that, GAG! And this unsweetened chocolate really pushed me over the edge. I feel like I can still taste it this morning. Yuck.

More about the kids (I’m going to jump around here this morning!)

Jack burnt his hand on the stove while I was making peaches for Alex. He wanted to see if it was hot, and it was. The scream of this realization nearly made me laugh. You’d think his hand got chopped off. He spent the rest of the day and night carrying around  a cold pack in a dish towel.

1:15pm

What is up with all of this ice?! I sure hope it clears up before tomorrow. I’m off to get impressions for my crown. I had no idea one tooth could cause so much trouble and cost so much. I should have just had her pull it and then the matching one on the other side, which is also boarder line root canal.

6:53pm

It has taken me all day to do this blog. Supper was awesome. Slow cooker puller pork sandwiches. YUM! And dessert was a blondie for me. Ok, I should share some pictures now.

Here’s Andy’s chin after he fell running in the kitchen:

Welcome 2010

A week into the new year, and everything is going well. Today marks 5 years since the miscarriage I had.  A little over 2 weeks later, I became pregnant with Jack.

Joe and I are losing weight. I’ve lost a little over 7 lbs since December 26. Things are looking, ummm, down! for me. Which is wonderful. I really want a huge pice of chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting from Hy-Vee though.

I ordered my boots a few days ago. They should be here Tuesday. I got a great deal on them. I sure hope they fit.

The boys took a nice dino ride on New Year’s Eve:

Alex had his first bites of cereal, oatmeal, on New Year’s Eve:

Let’s get the show on the road, Mom!

aaaaand….. the quilt my mom got me for Christmas, along with the 2 pillow shams. This thing is so warm! I love it. It’s much better than the full comforter we were using on the pillow top queen. We don’t have the skirt, but I’d like to get it sometime, along with the other shams that go with it. I love the design. It’s country, and elegant.

That’s about it…. I’ll write more later on next week.
